Your Questions Answered

Welcome to our FAQ page! Here, you'll find answers to the most common questions about the services we offer, how to get started, and what to expect during your care. If you don't see an answer to your question, feel free to reach out—We're here to help!

What is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner?

A Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice nurse with specialized training and experience in mental health care. They are equipped to conduct comprehensive psychological and physical assessments, make accurate diagnoses, provide therapy, for individuals dealing with psychiatric disorders.

Unlike psychiatrists, who are medical doctors with a focus on psychiatry, PMHNPs are registered nurses with advanced degrees in psychiatric mental health nursing. If a situation arises where a psychiatrist’s expertise is needed, I will provide you with a referral and support throughout the referral process.

Do you offer in-person or online sessions?

Alibi Mental Health Care offers both in-person and telehealth services with the option to choose what works best for you. Please note that some healthcare laws and regulations regarding prescribing may require in-person evaluations, especially for certain services. Additionally, most child and adolescent evaluations will take place in-person to ensure a thorough assessment and provide the most effective care. Telehealth sessions are available for clients in Washington, D.C., and offer flexibility for ongoing care.

Do you prescribe medications?

Alibi Mental Health Care does not currently prescribe medications. If you are interested in medication management services, please reach out for a referall.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance directly, but I work with reimbursement partners to help make care more affordable. Through these partnerships, you may only need to pay a reduced upfront cost—sometimes just a copay—rather than the full session fee.

If you have out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement for services. I have partnered with reimbursement networks to simplify this process, handling claims automatically so you don’t have to. If you'd like to check your benefits, click here!

What should I do if I’m in crisis or need immediate help?

If you’re in immediate danger or need urgent support Call 988 or 911. I am here to help with ongoing mental health support, but for emergencies, it’s important to seek immediate assistance.
